Changelog: MM and PL »
By Pixel Sage
Magic Missile: Now its got some real magic. Instead of targeting the minion in front, it aims for the one in the back. This adds new strategy to the game, now that teams will need walls not only for their front, but also for their back. Phantom Link: In simple terms, the minion who trains PL will take damage for another minion, and the damage taken by that minion is reduced by 10%. This is an alternative to making walls for the back minion. On one note, both of these are nerfs for FB mages. MM now has a chance to strike at the FB mage from ranged round 2 (unless the mage is moved from the back), and PL takes dispersed FB damage and focuses it on one minion. Of course, there are nerfs to other strategies, but this one sticks out the most. Edit: PL now only takes effect if the original minion receiving damage would not die from the damage. March 07, 2006
Where’d the Wiki Go? »
By Pixel Sage
It’s March, and that means it’s change month. The wiki has been moved to the Help link. This is likely due to the fact that the Help page was rather useless, and there’s already an FAQ and a Wiki. We’ll be looking forward to more things this month, so stay tuned! *Comment Discussion: What else do you think Jon will do this month? March 02, 2006
How to Attract More People? »
By Vaynard
So I was thinking. Yes, that is scary. But I was wondering if we could try to attract more people over here. To write and read and whatever. And maybe we don’t even need more, but it seems our population that is active over here has yet to really take off. I subscribe to the philosophy more is merrier myself. Without further ado, here is Vaynard’s wacky ideas to try to help Pixelsage get more users on his site! 1) Less redundancy. Maybe you guys will disagree with me, but it seems to me that our system limits creative users. I feel somewhat constrained when I know that what I type will not go up any time soon, and must be checked over. Why not run the same type of system that the CB forums subscribe to? Let users post and make articles as they want, but if they make trouble get rid of them. We could still have editors that would make things pretty and correct the occasional grammatical error. 2) Attract more writers. Seems to me if we had more in depth articles and editorials that we would attract more users to read them as well. Of course, this will naturally get better with time but I was wondering if we could institute awards of some type. I am way to broke to attempt it (and also debating quitting the CB world still), but someone could offer say $50k bonuses per 5 page in depth article, or something to that effect. Just get people writing. 3) Prizes. Again, we could try to attract more writers. We would not necessarily need money or a prize, but why not have a prestige based event, such as a writer of the month or CB Info Writer of the Year Awards? It would be kind like the CB Info QB. 4) Assign more articles. Part of my problem is I can never think of what to talk about on articles such as these, so why not assign any and all of the writers on here more articles on occasion? People could opt out if they did not want to do this, but it sounds fun to me. Just don’t ask me to interview anyone. ;) 5) Let’s see some art! Someone, *cough cough*, Pixel Sage, needs to provide us some pretty pictures! I’d offer to help, but my works would burn the eyes and cause hysteria. I am sure there is something we could do to get aspiring artists on here. I want pictures! 6) Contests. I have mentioned a few ideas above for writers, but why can’t we come up with some other sorts of contests for on here? That was just a few ideas. I hope someone reads them and is inspired. Myself, it is late and I am tired, so that is all I feel like doing for now. See you all around. February 25, 2006
Insiders coming soon! »
By Pixel Sage
That’s right! We have two new insiders on line. One is with Freed, a gung-ho USD spender who brought himself to the top ten. The other is none other than the man behind the game, Jonathan. Stay tuned! February 22, 2006
Single Mage Strategy »
By Lukey
Ok, lets start you off with single mage. First, train Fireball (FB) as soon as you can. If your minion is holding a melee weapon right now, sell it, since weapons can not mix with Direct Damage Spells. Now is a good time to use money gained from the fights to buy some armor for your mage (and NEVER weapons). Right now, Leather Boots and Leather Gloves is the best choice, later on you can upgrade with a Cornuthaum and Alatar’s Gloves, and maybe even Displacement Boots if you want. After FB is learned, fight some battles, and train half your experience to HP and the other half to FB. (Note: This is the way I do my strategy and it’s working out well. You can train the experience at a different ratio if you think it would work better.) Soon enough, you’ll have reached 1000-2000 Minion Power Rating (MPR). At this time, I suggest you train Antimagic Field (AMF, 567 exp needed). Now you have to split your experience up between HP, FB, and AMF. Here is a decent way I’ve found to invest your experience: HP and FB should always be even. AMF should be around half what the HP is. For example, if you have 5000 HP and 5000 FB, then your AMF should be around 2500. Lastly, make sure you have a Tattoo or a Rune. I would suggest a Rune of Enlightenment until around 150,000 MPR or until you can’t fight those around your score anymore. At that point, either use a Tattoo of Endurance (ToE), or a Fire Familiar (FF). February 15, 2006
Editorial: The Future of CB? »
By Vaynard
Despite the title, I am not going to claim to have foresight or any other form of ESP. However, I will in this article look into the future of CB2 as I see it. And unfortunately, at this point and time the future is not so bright. And for several reasons. Remember one thing though. This article is based purely off of my perceptions and opinion. |
